He raises an interesting point. Granted, he made this on the assumption that Michael Bay was producing as well as directing. But then, it's Liebesman in the director's chair instead, so the point's moot.

So the question is: How many of us will actually go see this film?
Answer: All of us.

I only go to the cinema about two or three times a year, and there's no fucking way that I'd waste my hard earned cash on a michael bay movie.

Director Jonathan Liebesman On TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Reboot

On The "Alien" Aspect Of The Reboot...

Quote:
“Look, it’s so funny—if everyone was such a die-hard fan, they would know that the TCRI canisters where the ooze comes from. That is alien ooze. Now I’m not saying what Michael said is exactly what the movie is, because we’re sitting in a room now figuring everything out. So we don’t know, but we are like Michael said: we’re expanding it, and the expansion will be true to the mythology. I promise you: fans will love it.”

On Working With Kevin Eastman...

Quote:
“Whatever mythology we’re building on or expanding is coming from that guy, Kevin Eastman’s head, who created the Turtles in the first place. And so everything will tie in with the mythology; fans will be extremely excited with what we’re coming up with. A lot of it is stuff he’s wanted to do for a long time, but just hasn’t had the opportunity because now we have the budget and things on this film to expand it in the right way. And so, I’m happy that everyone is extremely passionate, and they will not be disappointed. It’s all coming from the best possible place for this franchise.”

On Whether Or Not The Turtles Will Be CGI'd...

Quote:
“All I’ll say is that I love how they did [The Rise of the Planet of the Apes]. That was exceptional.”

On How Much Action Is In The Movie...
Quote:
“We’re definitely into the action, but for me what’s more important than that is that it’s a story about brotherhood and friendship and responsibility. Right now, I’m with the characters because those are what attracted me to the movie. They’re the best characters I’ll have had a chance to deal with.”

I'm kind of curious how much this will tie into the rebooted comic series that IDW has been publishing.

well, Eastman has been reworking the origin of the turtles, and if he's invovled in this... the two prjects could be related. Furthermore, Krang is a prominent villain in the new series and from what I've heard he's being considered as the foe for the movie

The turtles new origin has a lot more to do with reincarnation than anything alien though.
And I'd be fine with Krang if he was done properly.

For the first time in many moons, I've actually seen something interesting posted on The Gutters.
It's not a strip though, but rather something in the accompanying blurb.

Quote:
All I can do is take some solace in the fact that when the cartoon show that we all know and love debuted, I'm sure that there were just as many fans of Eastman & Laird's vision who were upset about those changes.
They just didn't have the internet to let us all know about it.

So apparently this whole deal and subsequent outrage was important enough to make front page news of my schoolpaper.

All I can I say is that I hope there's such a slow news week in my town, that the front page news are about me boycotting Twilight because it sucks.

if you posted another link like this one from Bay's personal Forum
http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum/sh ... JA-TURTLES
bay did'nt change the name paramount did
Quote:
Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.

I guess I could give them a chance, but I still won't pay to see it, unless the trailers convince me otherwise.

Never particularly cared for TMNT, even as a kid. Was more of a Spider-Man and Batman kind of child (which ironically enough carries over to my current interests) that said I kinda... don't hate the changes. I think the mutant turtle thing is silly enough anyways, minus-well make them aliens while you're at it. The problem isn't in that the change is too much, just that the change isn't necessary. Tweaking the origin from one extreme of silliness to another seems unjustified but if it's good it really doesn't matter in the end. Then again I'm the kind of cat who is hugely open to canon-changing stuff like this, hence why I approve of Nolan's retooling of Bane, the J.J. Abrams' Star Trek flick and really wanted to see Donald Glover as Spidey.

Really though, nothing is terribly promising about the film. Liebesman' films are generally poor (though to be honest, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning has a really good first hour until it loses it when ironically enough Leatherface is introduced as the main baddie).
