And swedes were vikings too.

well, yeah, i kinda said that.

Yeah I know, what I don't get is why you said it was a misconception when I said that because I'm blonde and blue eyed, that I'm probably descended from vikings.

but not every blond-haired blue-eyed person is descended from vikings. it's more likely that sure, you had a blond-haired ancestor and a blue-eyed ancestor at some point, and those genetic traits were passed down through generation after generation until the two finally met.

Well blue eyes are only a few thousands years old, and originated in northern europe, so that blue eyed ancestor must have originated from that area.

Gotta say, I'm impressed. I especially liked the scene when Quaid suddenly discovered he could kick ass. Farrell did a good job of selling that. Also, I know she's married to the director and all, but Kate Beckinsale was still a fine choice for the Sharon Stone role.

I also have to give props to the production design, which looks sleek and futuristic with a worn-down edge. Oh, and Bryan Cranston is always a pleasure to see.

Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.

On a less positive note, I thought the camera work during the action scene was quite bad, I hope it doesn't extend throughout the entire movie.

I mean, seriously, what is the point of an action scene if you can't properly appreciate the action, if you just swoop around each body the main character is taking down, and you can't feel the shots, the punches, the visceral part of the action, then what's the fucking point ?

I don't really intend to anytime soon. I'm just pretty uninterested.

I heard it was enjoyable but mediocre.

Is that sarcasm I smell  ?

The first one, while flawed, is quite intelligent and original..................sort of.

I think he means the short story.

I mean the movie. It's a classic because it is a Arny vehicle and a Verhoeven movie, not because it's really that good. That is why they should have focused on the short story.

totally agree, I love the original movie, and recently bought it on Blu-ray, it's not a masterpiece but it's damn fun and has some great moments.
to be honest though, I have never read any PKD book that would make a good movie without HEAVY adaptation. I haven't read We can remember it for you wholesale, but from reading the synopsis I don't think it would work very well on screen.
from what I have heard, the remake is very much a remake of the original movie's story, but playing out in different circumstances, with countless references and homages to the original movie. that kind of remake rarely works well.
I think a better remake would be something like how the supposed Robocop remake is going, by taking the basic premise and telling a completely different story.
