"IRON MAN 3 Will Be Co-Produced In China"

We are confident that Marvel’s stories will continue to be enjoyed by Chinese audiences, and adding a local flavor, and working with our new local partner, will enhance the appeal and relevance of our characters in China’s fast-growing film marketplace"

that makes it sound like the movie will have a lot of Chinese influence.

Did anyone ever say he wasn't?

For my money, I can't wait to see what this movie has in store when its two villains are going to be Mandarin and Ben Kingsley.

I believe it was stated several times that Mandarin wasn't supposed to be the villain? In fact, I believe it's in this very thread? Too lazy to search right now, playing Max Payne.

Well Shane Black said that he hates Mandarin and considers him a racist stereotype, but I'm not sure if it was ever directly stated that the Mandarin was definitely not the villain.

One more person saying this and I'll start thinking people believe it's "cool" to use that poor excuse to not use an awesome villain.

I'd much rather have Shane Black saying "Nah, I prefer the Crimson Dynamo for my movie!"

I think it's just been implied by the fact that Black dislikes The Mandarin and as such probably wouldn't want to use him.

I think it's more due to the fact that the Chinese are co-financing this movie now, and the chances of their approving a Chinese villain in an American film is very sketchy.

Then again, if Iron Man won't be part of some conflict in China, then why did Marvel go so far out of their way to get them involved? Does Iron Man have any other Chinese adversaries? Fin Fang Foom, maybe?

doesn't the Mandarin get his rings from Fin Fang Foom's race? I feel if they do Foom they should probably do Mandarin in the same movie,

I personally think that it was a lie to throw people off the scent anyway.

I'd hate to see Crimson Dynamo, we've already had IM fighting armour suits in 2 movies, I don't want another.

although if they were to do a movie set in the 70s or something I'd love to see Anton Vanko attempting to or succeeding in building Crimson Dynamo after being deported back to Russia. a movie like that would be a great way to give Black Widow an origin as some sort of child assassin, and also reveal Winter Soldier as some sort of soviet experiment (who is on ice and could potentially be resurrected in a future CA movie)

Well Fin Fang Foom is an Alien who just ends up in china... so, there is some possibility here... that ebign said I kind of feel like that would be werid, especially considering that Iron Man has been shown fighting another giant space serpent in the Avengers Trailers

It pays to have small roles played by great actors. Never saw Wayne's World 2?

I agree with both of these statements.

^Seconded. More of Jessica Chastain can only be a good thing.

never heard of her until just now,

in the article on Collider it says she was apparently up against Diane Kruger, Isla Fisher and Gemma Arterton for the role,

GTFO, go see Tree of Life or Take Shelter (preferably both), then come back.
