I´m so fucking there on the 26th. Didn´t really like the idea of 3D, but if the movie is half as awesome as it seems, I can look the other way when it comes gimmicky shit....

apparently the 3D isn't worth it, which makes me happy because of my 2 local theatres, the one that is showing The Avengers doesn't have 3D yet.

Wait a moment, so this will have 2d versions? I ask because in every single piece of advertising I see they always refer to 3d, and never 2d.
But even if it has 2d versions, I can see the distributors/theaters in my country only showing 3d copies of the movie. They did that shit with Cap.

I'm trying to avoid any more clips, since I already bought my ticket for the midnight premiere.

I'll be going to see it in 3D, by the way. I know I heard that the 3D wasn't worth it, but I want to see it for myself to put in my two cents.

of course, you can't show 3D if there aren't 3D projectors, and even multiplexes round here have at least a few screenings of all 3D movies in 2D,

I imagine they're pushing the 3D because it costs more for a 3D ticket.

As for myself, I'm tempted to go to the midnight premiere at this one theater with my college friends, but I really don't care to see it in 3D. Oh well, I guess I'm gonna.

Isn't this one of the rare cases in which Joss knew they were planning to release it in 3D beforehand and thus he shot it with 3D in mind? I mean let's be honest (lezbehonest), 3D is technically never "worth it." Either it's used to cheesy effect with shit coming at you through the screen, or it's used to create depth and atmosphere in a way that makes you say "oh neat." (Up, Avatar.) I would assume that Joss went for the latter, and I think the 3D should be kind of a nifty enviornmental effect. But it's never "worth it," so I don't know why people continue to bring it up as if 3D ever has been or ever will be. So yeah, I'll be paying 20 bucks to see this in IMAX 3D.

Granted, I will be seeing The Great Gatsby in 3D because the "what the fuck?" factor is too high.

Hugo was fantastic in 3D.

I find that 3D is generally better in documentaries. To date, the greatest 3D effects I've ever seen were in Cave of Forgotten Dreams and Pina.

Then again, I remember going to Transformers: DOTM in 2D last year, and immediately regretting that I couldn't review the 3D version. Won't be making that mistake again.

Because you'll kill yourself before watching Dark of the Moon again?

I know I would.

Because I could tell from the very first scene that the movie was meant to be seen in 3D. Bay clearly had a lot of confidence that the 3D would make for a better viewing experience, and I wished that I might have judged that for myself.

So now I hear that The Avengers might be better in 2D, but I'm going to see it in 3D anyway. Best case scenario, the 3D turns out to be a totally underrated feature that makes the film that much better. Worst case scenario, I can warn my readers that the 3D option really is worse.

Yeah, Transformers DOTM was definitely better in 3D, even though I haven't seen the 2D version I can tell it was definitely made with 3D in mind.

I actually saw it in 3D.
It was really cool.
But merely a novelty. Nothing more.
At the end of the day, I remember the movie, and not the gimmick.

We actually covered that in the Awesome Pictures thread, but it should be here anyway.
