He's not. There's a reason why he's usually cast as a supporting character. And can you really see him in the role?

So mean.......you are

He doesn't look the part, which is MAYBE the only problem.

But apart from everything else, he is a great actor, even if I believe Olyphant to be a worthy choice, Goggins out-performs him by far in Justified.

And what the hell ? Have you even read Preacher  ?

I've read the first volume.

Even still, just going by photos alone, Goggins doesn't looks right for the part. Again, he's a character actor, not a lead.

MAYBE he doesn't look the part, makeup can do wonders these days.

But just because we've never seen him lead, doesn't mean he can't :) !

And why didn't you continue reading Preacher :o ?

It wasn't like I was going to set out to read it, but I saw it at the library a few years back. I don't typically buy books anymore, so if it's not at the library, I don't read it.

i hind of think everyone suggested is a bit too old.

not sure if he can do the accent, but how about Chris Pine for Jesse, and Matthew Goode for Cassidy (can do irish), and Amber Heard for Tulip (is from Texas so accent not a problem)?

if Preacher was made 10 years ago Matthew McConaughey might have been a good Jesse

This is going to sound mean... but of all the posts you've ever made, Avatar, I disagree with this one the most. Chris Pine as Jesse disgusts me, Goode could maybe do Cassidy, I just feel like he wouldn't be able to nail certain elements of the character, he's too pretty.

And McConaughey? Really? Is Jesse now a pot smoking surfer who plays the bongos naked?

I'd imagine he'd be playing the character and not who he is real life.

But... that's pretty much the only character I've ever seen him play! He's a terrible actor!

That's fair enough, not sure why Chris pine idea disgusts you, that's pretty intense, he's a hard character to cast, but Chris pine can carry a movie, I think he can play whatever style he wants, and as for Goode being too pretty, that can be remedied with make up :|

As for McConaughey, I think he's been type cast too much, I think he could have played someone like Jesse, had he done it earlier in his career, hence the ten years ago statement.
