I don't even.......

Wasn't she going to play a character from an Iron Man story arc?

....

she was going to play some former girlfriend of Stark/scientist from Extremis, can't remember the name.

Rebecca Hall(The Town) Replaces Chastain
Quote:
Rebecca Hall to replace Chastain in 'Iron Man 3'

Rebecca Hall ("The Town") is in talks to join Marvel Studios and Disney's "Iron Man 3," that starts production this month.Thesp would play a scientist who plays a pivotal role in the creation of a nanotechnology, known as Extremis, that winds up being sold to terrorists.

Jessica Chastain announced on her Facebook page, on Monday, she would not be playing the part, due to conflicting projects, after press reports prematurely attached her to the pic. Shane Black is helming and co-writing "Iron Man 3," with Drew Pearce, that brings back Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire Tony Stark and his superhero alter ego Iron Man, along with Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle. Guy Pearce also is on board, while Ben Kingsley is set to play the villain.

Plot will borrow elements from Warren Ellis' six-issue "Iron Man: Extremis," that also heavily influenced the first "Iron Man" pic, and focuses on the spread of a virus through nanotechnology.

Hall isn't nearly as strong an actress, though that isn't saying much.

All things considered, I'm okay with this.

I will be honest, I had never heard of the character until I saw a similar article on a different site.

hope this doesn't turn into X Men First Class where they are just there for the sake of being there and having cool powers :|

This isn´t Fox trololololololololol

I mean, a bigger "fighting" cast is the next logical step. In IM1 it was Stane and Ten rings mooks. In IM2 it was Vanko and the Hammer Drones, but with Rhodes in War Machine Armor as backup. Now we get Kingsley and Pearce´s characters as the main antagonists, and instead of the drones, we seem to be getting something more personalized. That being said this Ashley Hamilton´s dude character seems canon fodder. No way they give a decent part to a cast member of Beethoven´s 2nd...

fuck my fucking fuck i was not expecting to see that this morning.

Image

so the character is supposed to be Eric Savin/Coldblood maybe he's some US Army experiment? perhaps the military are trying to create some sort of team to match the Avengers, who are Earth's Mightiest Heroes, perhaps the military want "America's Mightiest Heroes"? my main assumption is that after "retrofitting" the IM Mk 2 suit to creat War Machine, the military went and reverse engineered it to build a second suit, so this is basically War Machine Mk 2, but piloted by someone with no loyalty to Stark

maybe all the phase 2 movies will introduce "dark" (or militarized) versions of the characters perhaps, culminating in Dark Avengers in Avengers 2? it's interesting that Coldblood is a) a good guy and b) was on Cap's side, against Stark, in Civil War

it's kind of a shame because i had always hoped that if they did Iron Patriot, that Justin Hammer would be in the suit :|

although i just read a theory that introduced me to a character i never heard of before, Detroit Steel, who is built by Hammer, and that perhaps Iron Patriot will be a combination of the 2 characters.

This is a nice oportunity to dwell on the effects of Iron Man tech being spread around, and how Tony feels about it...

a nice theme that has developed through the last two movies as well.

also, read some interesting speculation on what's going on with this

iron patriot's armor is backwards-engineered from the mk 2, which is how they made war machine. however, the cannon is backwards-engineered from chitauri weapons from the avengers, somehow all cultivating in thanos leading the dark avengers in avengers 2.

I mean, only on IM2 did things get out of hand with Vanko learning how to do Arc Reactors. And even then the drones and Whiplash armor weren´t Stark tech.If this one is really reverse engineered from the Mark II, it´s the true start.

As to the Dark Avengers, how many alternate Avengers can one create?

Iron Patriot=Iron Man

She-Hulk(?)=Hulk

Loki(?)=Thor

Winter Soldier=Cap

I don´t even know how this would come into play...

And that´s assuming Iron Patriot is either a foe or foe/ally?

Well, She-Hulk isn't a bad guy, right? I think it's obvious that if they went that route, they'd use Abomination.

Also, Iron Patriot was always supposed to represent both Iron Man and Captain America.

Also, that's assuming that Avengers 2 won't shake up the roster in some way.

I still think that Thanos will be dealt with in GotG, or at least not dealt with in Avengers 2, if they ever get around to doing ant Man and introduce Pym, I'd like to see Ultron in Avengers 2, although potentially Thanos could be there in the background again.

I think the next few movies will each have an infinity gem in somewhere, maybe Mandarin has one, maybe if red Skull comes back he has on in Cap 2, etc. then Thanos could be the main villain in Guardians of the Galaxy,

Don´t really think they would use Thanos for something else then Avengers 2.And until Guardians is given a solid relase date, don´t think it will go forward...

Actually, Detroit Steel was built by Justine Hammer, Hammer's daughter who is currently running Hammer industries in the pages of IIM.
