Then what the hell do we have a forum for  ?

As long as a movie, about the myth of a government agency that regulates and controls the activities of extra-terrestrial life, deals with it's subject in a shallow, poorly realized manner, with Will Smith making stupid music videos for each entry, and not accompanied by an awesome soundtrack from Blue Öyster Cult...........then the movie in question will suck. Hard.

Oh, please. I can already tell you how the movie is going to end.

There's going to be a massive pullback to emphasize just how small we are in the big scheme of things, shown in a way reminiscent of something seen earlier in the film.

This is exactly how the previous two films ended, and I don't give the filmmakers enough credit to think that they have the creativity to deviate at this point.

since the movie's theme is time, i suspect there will be some sort of fast forward through time to millions of years in the future, showing how the MiB will be there forever, or something.

No, I meant no further thought devoted to the movie. Not the discussion of it.

Seriously, VNC, do you really think this will be the film to end the franchise? If the movie doesn't leave the door open for a fourth film or reboot the franchise entirely, then I'm Marvin the Martian.

I meant that it'll end its story so I feel satisfied. The film will for sure not leave me asking questions or pondering like intelligent affair such as The Dark Knight, A Clockwork Orange or Freddy vs. Jason (just kidding on the last one).

I don't know, maybe I just have a unique attitude to these films. Like even as a kid I had the same views, I had fun watching it but even at 10 I wouldn't really think about it again. I didn't want shirts, toys or to dress up as the MIB heh.

Well, there are always entertaining, fun movies one can forget about by the time they end.

But none of those movies had the potential (in my humble opinion) that MIB had.

Fixed

And never really got into the MIB movies.Wich is strange, because I actaully don´t a problem with blockbuster Smith, TLJ is a plus in any movie, and over the topness is ok to me.Guess MIB´s mix of all these elements din´t really gel that well to me...

Its a strange impulse I have to simply... re-do posters I'm not satisfied with.
Such as the wheel-cycle one...

I've always liked the minimalist approach for the MIB.

Okay I actually really thought about this.
And I agree.
MIB had alot more, no, WAY more potential than it ever allowed itself to fully realize.
Its content to merely wink, nod, look sleek and sound clever.
When it could've been downright intelligent and thought provoking.

Those two adjectives aren't easily attached to this series as it stands.

HOWEVER...

MIB, the first one, is still in the end a simple, entertaining movie that we can just forget about by the time its over.
Its well made and a fun ride. And in my humble opinon, a damn decent one at that.

All I'm hoping for MIB 3, is that its fun and not overly stupid and flat out silly like MIB 2.

I don't think a lot of people realize how MIB 2 had even greater potential than the former, the framework for the story is ten times better than the first one, it has depth, the scale of the conflict is much larger, and in theory it could've made humanity seem even smaller in the cosmos if it had been done well, rather than having that obliviously stupid scene with the locker at the end.

In the review I'm draggin my feet about finishing,
I've pointed out that the whole thing about "if nobody knows who I am, then how can anyone love me?" thing was gold.
And could've really gone places. The subway scene, I also love.
Everything does seem like the scope of it just multiplied.
But yeah I do agree with you.

I guess though, I can more appreciate a decent film, with loads of missed of potential,
rather than a stupid film, with even MORE missed potential.

"The guy who likes ugly chicks fucks more"

That's you right there Nitey :D !

I'm just frustrated, I don't think there's been an idea as uniquely brilliant as Men In Black, taking an urban legend and making entertainment out of it goes beyond the meaning of the phrase "ridiculously awesome", so I feel dissapointed when the product of such an idea is basically Will Smith's excuse to get paid.

Call me simple, but I just want to see J and K, back to back, shooting some nasty ass aliens.
Image
^ that. and hopefully lots.

The first one was like the pilot episode.
They recruited J.
The second one had to focus on bringing back K.
This one should be where they hit their stride and just go for gold.

*crosses fingers* lets hope that its just a really fun ride.

That's a fantastic teaser, though I'd remove the blue lens flare on the logo (though you probably could only get the MIB3 logo with that on it, so it's understandable)

Actually, I made that logo.
It was arial (ariel?) black, height decreased to 50 or 60%, and on top of that, boldened.
And I too put the blue lens flare in.

I might draft a couple variations.
Maybe one without it. Who knows? =)

Edit:

Was bored. Couldn't resist.

Saw the third movie.

As a stand-alone movie, it's better than it had any right to be.

As part of a greater franchise, this will hopefully be enough to kill it once and for all.

So long as its fun and a decent popcorn flick, I'll be satisfied.

We had two big screen predecessors and a really fun and well made animated show.
Couldn't ask for more.
Lets hope this is the big goodbye.
I doubt that they could do any better with more of this.
Lets just say adieu on a relatively high note.
A franchise really couldn't ask for more.

Perfect! I really dig your work.

So, I caught the movie last night and after a rough start I found myself fairly amused. There was alot of hit or miss jokes, like the Bill Hader as Andy Warhol just didn't pay off for me, but after that surprisingly emotional ending I found it to be a little more then I expected. Fun if forgettable, as it needed to be.
