No, the movie pretty solidly establishes that the scepter was somehow powered by the Tesseract. Or maybe it was powered by another, smaller Tesseract. It's never made clear.

What is made clear, however, is that the force field protecting the portal generator was powered by the Tesseract. That's why the scepter could penetrate it, because the Tesseract couldn't protect against itself.

Exactly, and the odds of Thanos letting any of the gems out of his grasp are slim to none. Wait? What's that? Apparently slim has left town. I think it's safe to assume that at this point in Marvel chronology Thanos does not have most (or any) of the gems, I'm sure that he won't start collecting those untilt he second wave of Marvel films.

And I believe Curi is onto something with the smaller tesseract theory, it's very well established in the comic side of Marvel that the Cosmic Cube is actually just one of many Cosmic Containment Units (they aren't all cubes)

Who's to say that the stone couldn't be both an infinity gem and powered by a tesseract? Maybe the two things are going to be tied together in the movies for simplicity.

It would pussify The Punisher.

Seriously people, somebody else has to read the Ennis run on Punisher.

But if they make the gems only have power because of the tesseract... that means the tesseract is more powerful, so there really isn't a point in attempting to collect the gems, just grab the cube again and we're good to go.

Is Thor 2 the last movie before Avenergs 2?

Not necessarily. That's like saying a battery's more powerful than the thing it powers.

Yeah that was awesome.
I've been buying them piece by piece whenever I get to the comic store.
But I read a TON of punisher stuff including EVERYTHING ennis wrote.
I got it all from a big 16 GB torrent full of punisher stuff.

No, no, i'm saying, what if the infinity gems are types of tesseract basically.

So, you haven't read the MAX stuff, clearly why you'd want Castle to bond with Venom.

I mean, in a way aren't they? Both are vessels to channel higher powers, just the gems are more focus and more potent, while the cosmic Containment Units have broader powers.

Like I've said the Gauntlet isn't the big deal, he could have used a leather glove for all her cared, the gems are where all the power is. I really don't want/need a scene with him stealing the Gauntlet itself, I want the focus to be on the Gems and explaining their importance to Thanos larger machinations.

Think of it in earthly terms, the gauntlet is a rojectile missle, the gems are the payload... the payload is where the power of the missile resides.

That had better be a wow of "Wow, why are we talking about this in this thread?"

That's a wow of "Feliciano just quoted NiteOwl saying one thing and then said he said the exact opposite."

I guess he really really doesn't read posts.

Actually, I didn't believe NiteOwl, so I just bypassed the whole "you're lying" thing and went ahead and replied.

Not for lack of want, but Punisher Comics aren't women.
