Yes, first Dave Gibbons, now John Higgins!

We will not be setting up a fan question submission form for this interview, but if any forum members have any pressing questions for John, you can post them in this thread and they will be considered.

Q1: Why recoloured the Watchmen?

Q2: Who's involved in the input of the recoloured version? I know Dave Gibbons was consulted, but was Alan Moore himself involved?

Q3: What's his thoughts about the final product of the recoloured version?

Q4: What's Alan Moore's number?

Seriously, though, nice catch DDC! I'm sure Vynson would be keen to ask a question or two as his amazon review of the absolute edition was focused on, and full of praise for, Higgins...

Good show with the Higgins interview, DDC. His contribution is oft overlooked, but invaluable to the overall story. While I don't have any questions for Mr. Higgins specifically at the moment, I do have one or two Wonder Woman questions for his wife.

Isn't it sad that everyone is excited with the interview with Dave Gibbons, but not many seems to care much bout John Higgins? Sigh... :(

Bump.

Now that the Dave Gibbons interview is winding down, I think it's time to turn our focus to John Higgins. DD and I are still taking suggestions, if any are out there.

I think more people will come up with questions for Higgins once they got their hands on the Watching the Watchmen book. From what I've heard, the book has an interesting section on his contributions.

I have a couple...

Killing Joke and Watchmen. Two of the greatest adult comic narratives out there, and you helped those titles achieve that level of exellence. How does it feel to be such an important part of a graphic story, without attaining the widespread acknowledgement you so justly deserve?

Watchmen. How was the colouring put onto the page back then? Did you have people doing overlays with a scalpel at the printers or were production techniques already digital?

The colour-palette for the original run of Watchmen is pretty garish. (In a nice way, I only have the original issues and the 1st print GN). Can you remember how the discussion went as to how the palette was chosen?

How loud did you groan when you were asked to redo the tints for the later, up-market edition? (Or was it your idea)?

I think it's John Higgins who approached Dave Gibbons to recolour Watchmen 'as originally intended'. I remembered reading it somewhere, in an interview with Dave Gibbons.

Oh, oh, I have a question! I'm a hardcore John Higgins fan. He is a coloring god.

With Watchmen and The Killing Joke, you use bright, intense colors in very moody and unsettling ways. Was this technique inspired by any other artists or colorists, or was it mostly born coping with the technical limitations of the time?

EDIT: Oh, you started this thread in September. Oops. Am I too late?

If it's not too late I got one (or two).

1) Loved your work on Thunderbolt Jaxon and was wondering if there was any chance at all that yourself and Dave Gibbons would be doing a follow-up miniseries anytime soon?

2) Being such an accomplished colourist yourself, how did it feel to have someone else colour your work on Thunderbolt Jaxon?

Keep in mind, this interview will Watchmen related questions only...

I have some questions that may be basic.. but well...

1) how did he get involved with the project
2) did he had all already planned by Alan and Dave or did he contributed in a way that his colors changed frames planned before
3) how came that great idea of showing time trough colors or lights blinking?
4) was everything well planned before execution or did some random colors made a contribution to the comic?

(i will try to think about others)

Buggeration.

Understandable though.
