So far just my sister. I kept telling her to read it and she finally did when she saw the first trailer.

She was reading it at work when a co-worker, a huge Alan Moore fan, asked her if it was her first time reading it. She answered yes and he said he envied her. He meant it'll never be new to him again.

I feel that way about a lot of books.

My friend Robert introduced me to it, and from there I've let 5 people read it, but there's about 6 other people waiting in line for it.

So far there hasn't been a single person who didn't find it amazing and thought provoking.

I showed it to by best friend, he loved it. Then my sister's boyfriend, he loved it. I got my grandfather to read it, he too loved it and got my mom to start it but she barely read it and I eventually got impatient so I made her give it back to me so I could read it agian.

I'm known, among my friends, for the amount of stuff -books, movies, videogames etc.- I make them try and love. It's my hobby: if I have a passion, I HAVE to share it with as many people as possible.

So, after about six or seven Watchmen read-through, I decided to spread this masterpiece.
So far I've convinced my brother, my girlfriend (took me SEVEN months to convince her to read it :P) and two of my friends. every one of them LOVED it, obviously.
I told about it to at least three or four other friends, who are now reading it or about to start.
Also when I get my copy back, I want to show it to my father, I'm pretty sure even him would love it.

And, of course, I try to convince any single person, even strangers, to read Watchmen BEFORE the movie is released. Or at least before they watch the movie.

since scream footage - couple more
since motion comic - almost everyone I've talked to (felt like a salesman at party I was at last night..)

I now have 5, yes, 5 new people asking to borrow my novel. And I've already had 3 of my friends read it 'cause of me.
This renewed interest of my friends is due to 2 factors:
1.) I plugged my comp into the plasma in the lounge (place on campus we hang out) and was watching the HD scream trailer on it, because oh my gosh, frame-by-framing on a 51-inch plasma in HD is AMAZING. So then I was watching it bunches of times and several of my friends were like "wait, what's the blue guy? So they all have super-powers? NIPPLES! Ohhh cool thing with the people in the snow..." etc. So I was trying to explain everything and the characters (someone asked if Doc was the bad guy, heh.), while not giving away awesomeness. So a bunch of people got interested and asked to borrow after that day.
2.) Then we ended up watching V for Vendetta (because a lot of us are Republicans and greatly depressed over the election results - please no political debates, we were just watching the movie 'cause it was like, ah, when gov'ts go bad, this gov't is going to go bad, etc. yes, we know it was the conservative party in V, just leave us alone...) and so as we were watching it and I was pointing out little things that other people wouldn't notice (the few frames where it indicates Evey and Finch get married, etc...) they were like "neato" and I was like "hey, you know, this is based on a comic by Alan Moore, the same guy who wrote that Watchmen thing that's getting made into a movie." and they were like "oh my gosh! seriously? neat beans!" and I was like "I KNOWZ! read pleaz?" and they were like "loan pleaz?" and I was like "yay!"

tl;dr, at least 5 new recruits to Watchmen over this past week. Go me.

Over on my forum, I have four friends about to read it. I'm excited because I've done nothing but go on and on about Watchmen for months over there and it's really getting on their nerves, and I keep telling them "just read it and you'll understand!"

My boss is throwing an end-of-semester White Elephant party for myself and my coworkers in a few weeks. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when everyone brings a cheap present and they're all distributed at random.

A Watchmen TPB is above the price limit, but damned if that's not what I'm chipping in.

That's actually awesome. It'll probably be the only awesome present in the room, sadly. White Elephant parties are basically a sea of cheap, crummy gifts from past White Elephant parties.

yeah, but if you throw in something awesome (fur blanket. yeaaaahhh) it gets really really fun, because everyone's fighting over the one great gift.
me and my relatives do white elephant (i'm italian, there's a lot of relatives. it's equivalent to an office party) and we generally have 2 or 3 fabulous gifts, which always makes it way more fun. especially when the gift giver tries to steal back the gift they gave. keekeke.
whoa. off topic.
um.
loaned out my copy for the 3rd time since the TDK trailer today! yah!!!

And I've pre-ordered 12 copies of the TPB to give out as Christmas presents this year.

Even if the movie does suck a bit, I've also introduced many ppl to the movies of From Hell, LXG and V for Vendetta - with 99% loving them! For people that haven't read the originals, many of these were very entertaining movies.

Some of the ppl I've since turned onto the original comics/graphic novels have agreed the originals are superior. But as they say ''like any book, it's never the same in the movie". Some have loved the extra dimension now available to them within the original and commented ''it's like having a ready-made sequel".

Since 100% of the ppl I've shown the Watchmen movie trailers or motion comic have commented favourably (many are now hooked on the motion comic), I'm sure most will be there at the opening session with me.

More than any other movie, I intend introducing this one to all my family, friends and perfect strangers (those that haven't already been lectured) :)

Instead of whining about what us fan boys and girls might not like about the movie (and we're all bound to have some disappointments), why don't we all tell our contacts why we've been anticipating this movie for so long and invite them along to opening week screenings? And when they DO love it (even if some of us don't), we can turn them on to the original and reinforce it's status as the greatest work of its' kind.

It would be a better world....

Erm... oh dear. The films (bar V for Vendetta, which I hated anyway) had nothing in common with the comics. Nothing. And "League" (which I saw before reading it) was absolutely atrocious as a film in its own right. Incredibly bad. It doesn't sound like "From Hell" was up to much either, though I've not seen it (why the fuck would anyone consider portraying Abberline as a much younger, opium-addicted psychic...?)

I liked the movie version of From Hell. But to be fair the last time I watched it I was a teenager, and I've had a raging crush on Johnny Depp since small times, so my view on it may be a little skewed.

On the topic of getting other folks to read Watchmen (thought I had responded to this already, guess not): Two friends that I know of read it because of all my raving about it. (One of them was most convinced by my description of the book's premise: "It's a book about the fact that, if superheroes were real, they'd all be insufferable douchebags." He was like, "Okay, you've convinced me, I'm reading this now." And of course he LOVED it.)

I'm still working on two other friends, but one of them is very obstinate about wanting to go in "clean" to the movie because she's concerned that reading the book first will make her enjoy the movie less. Which is probably true. She better actually read it after the movie though. The other may be able to be convinced. I meant to just buy him the book last time I saw him but I forgot to.
