Gonna go see the new Aronofsky wrestling picture tonight in Denver.

The second I first heard about this movie I was instantly reminded of Barton Fink. It sounds pretty much exactly like the wrestling picture Barton Fink was trying to write in that film, actually. "They don't want to see a guy wrestling with his soul! Well, all right, a little bit, for the critics."

So I'm actually pretty excited about this one. I'll let you know how it is!

Oh man. Aronofsky is one of my favorite directors right now. Everything he's done so far has been pitch-perfect for me.

I am beyond excited for this one to come out.

It's excellent and completely heartbreaking. I recommend that everyone see this one when it comes to a venue near you.

Never thought I'd say this about anything related to wrestling, but that looks beautiful. I can't want to see this film.

Rourke has been there and back, perfect rôle for him.

This movie looks really really good. Should provide an intresting story and an intresting point of view to people who don't watch wrestling or aren't involved in "da biz"

Very excited for this movie, its great to see a movie tackle the wrestling industry and the effect it has on the Wrestlers, its really amazing how much hard work and dedication they put in for relatively unimpressive money, mainly because they just love it so much. Its also heartbreaking to see what becomes of the legends of yesteryear sometimes, and this movie looks to capture all that, it should be great.

Saw this movie on Christmas day in Toronto and this is THE best movie of 2008 and shall be one of the best movies of 2009. Tried real hard to consume my tears in the end, and just thinking about the movie makes me sad. Very powerful performance by Mickey Rourke and great work by Darren Aronofsky. I really can't wait to see it again when it hits mass audience. I wasn't surprised when I found out that half of the movie is improvised especially when you know the struggle Mickey had to go through in his boxing/acting career.

Coincidentally, wasn't Aronofsky supposed to direct Watchmen a few years back?

Yes, he was. He was on that project for all of one week before The Fountain got green-lit and he was called away.

I really want to see this film, among others like "Let The Right One In." I can't believe I have to wait so long for the release in Chicago.

I just saw the movie. It's nothing huge in terms of plot, sure the topic of wrestling is probably not something that is touched upon a lot but that's basically it. It is really just a story about a man that has had his glory days and now has to suffer the consequences of his action during that time and from not being able to let go of the past. It's nothing new really, anyone that has watched TV has probably seen this thing on some low budget drama show several dozens of times. However, this kinda like saying that the Shining is about procrastination.

I'm reminded of Coppola when at the Cannes film festival around the release of Apocalypse Now and he said "My film isn't a movie. My film isn't about Vietnam, it IS Vietnam.". Just like this film isn't about a wrestler, it IS the wrestler.

I'm pretty annoyed this doesn't seem to be getting a full release in Australia. I thought after winning 2 Golden Globes and all the positive talk about this film it would be released everywhere, but apparantly its only in about 5 cinemas tomorrow. :|

I was going to see it with some friends on the weekend, but I might just go see it after work in the city tomorrow night instead, I can hardly wait for this movie so I might go tomorow even if it means going on my own :?

It's not even in wide release here in the US yet.

It's only a 6 million dollar production released by a relatively small company. Expecting a nationwide release this soon would be extremely unlike. You can take Pulp Fiction as an example, it took about a year for that movie to do from just being a small pictures shown mainly on various film festivals to being actually released in theaters.

I went and saw it last night, it was great!

Really much bleaker than I expected it would be, which is nice, because it didn't feel like a generic sports drama. The acting was fantastic from all the cast, and it was shot very well. I was a bit weary because I usually hate hand-held camera work and all that, but it was used well here.

The Wrestling scenes were also pretty impressive, showing the self-destructive nature of it, it was really the perfect basis for this movie, I have a feeling if it were something like Boxing or any other sport, it simply would never have worked as well.
