It's early days yet. As with the trailers, the CG really isn't the final product yet...

Despite the fact I posted already, I'd prefer good gameplay to good graphics any day....look at the Iron Man tie-in....superb graphics but worst game of the year.

An excellent fucking point. Gameplay is a much larger factor for me than graphics, one of the reasons i play star wars battlefront 2 every now and then. iron man had beast graphics, but gameplay was meh.

I love video games, but the whole idea of a Watchmen game is really wrong to me.

If there's one thing I hate about this movie being made it's this video game. Such a horrible decision, but it was inevitable.

Second that. I hate games based on movies (and vice versa), they suck. They make them real fast, without too much effort, so they can sell them to make some profit off some 15 year old boy who doesn't know better. Sigh.

But it's very clear that they want to break that pattern with this game. Alan Moore's mentor, the creator of Wolverine, wrote the story! They're making it an episodic download. That's nothing but positive.
I'm hoping for the good of this game and for the good of all movie tie-ins that this will be worthwhile. Just think: this could be the next Goldeneye, one of the most revolutionary games ever made! I don't think it will be, but they're not rushing it like most tie-ins....

AYB is right. The creators know the justly deserved reputation of movie games, and are doing their best to break the cycle. Most companies don't try to make movie games anything worthwhile, because they're mainly for kids who can't discern quality from cool.

I'm not really worried about the quality. It's just that video games are usually very morally straightforward. You are the good guy and oyu must kill the bad guys. There are few exceptions I can think of. Watchmen is more morally ambiguous. It doesn't seem to be something that ought to be a video game.

So... video game Rorschach looks quite a bit taller than movie Rorschach.

damn you all anti-watchgame...if they can make a bloody rpg-table game out of this, back in the 80's, why not pulling a cool watchmen video game today? this is no Street Fighter Movie videogame.

Well, I'm still skeptical about it. It might have a good story, but what about gameplay? (this is just the hardcore gamer in me speaking :D) I used to review games for one of the biggest Belgian gamesites, and I've been given quite some movie based games. While in some of the games the story was decent, the gameplay certainly wasn't. If the game doesn't play well, then it's a no-go for me.

Except the game doesn't deal with the events of the book or the movie. All it is is a fleshing out of Nite Owl's and Rorschach's days together of puttin' a beatin' on criminals. Those days, to them at least, were pretty morally one-sided. To Nite Owl and Rorschach, it is indeed a matter of moral straightforwardness -- those guys are criminals, so I shall hit them with a 2x4.
