I have opened the forum avatar gallery for those of you who don't have an avatar and would like one, or for those of you looking for a change.

To view the avatar gallery, use the User Control Panel link at the top right of the forum. Then click on Profile > Edit Avatar. At the bottom of the Avatar Settings there is a Display gallery link. Click that to see the avatars. Use the pulldown menu to see avatars in the different categories.

Enjoy!

Outstanding, Doomsday. I never would have thought of this, and the selection of avatars is quite good.

Hell, I found a smiley badge avatar in there that was of a better quality than mine! Good work.

Finally I have a more appropriate image to accompany the rest of my profile. Thanks again, Doomsday!

I used to carry around a different avatar, actually the one Curiosity is sportin', but for the good of not being banned and fear of being screamed at, I have changed the design.

I thought I made it quite clear that I wouldn't ban you for that. Sorry if you misunderstood me.

It's just that I consider our avatars to be our "faces" on this or any other message board. Wouldn't you be kinda creeped out if someone else with your face started walking around and talking to other people? Avatars should be unique, that's all I'm trying to say.

Does the blood splattered smiley image count as unique... on a Watchmen board?

Point taken.

But there's only one user (me) on this board who has that exact image of the blood-spattered smiley. Just like there's only one user here who has the Lego Alan Moore avatar and only one user with an avatar of a broken finger and so forth.

Every avatar here is different. That's the important thing.

I could make an argument that any avatar in the public gallery is fair game to anyone and that if you want an avatar to be unique, customize it in some way so that nobody else would have it. But I also agree that its probably good board ettiquette not to use the same avatar that somebody else has.

That's fair enough.

Unfortunately, yes.

I should add that this was my avatar from the very beginning, well before the avatar gallery went up. It's just that when the gallery went up, I found an avatar there that was perfectly identical to mine... only in better quality. So I took that one instead.

And as previously stated, I'm not going to ban anyone for taking this avatar. It's just good board etiquette to take an avatar that's unique to you.
