I've introduced it to 4 of my friends, but 1 refuses to read it (I have no idea why). The other 3 absolutely loved it. Of course, I made them call me after every chapter for discussion ;).

My Ma read it to me as a kid and I got my cousin and ex-boyfriend to read it. He got his brother to read it and he got a dozen boys at his job reading it, :D

From my understanding, this is not at all uncommon.

The rape part, anyway. The Blake part is kind of weird.
