They're releasing the Motion Comic on Blu-Ray...

http://www.cinemablend.com/dvdnews/Watc ... 14755.html

Interesting tidbits...

When you buy it you get $7.50 towards seeing Watchmen and on blu-ray the prison fight scene from the film is included as an extra.

I have not seen this posted anywhere (if it is, I apologize) but the Watchmen Motion comic series is going to be on dvd three days before the movie. Also, you get movie cash and in the blu-ray version there is supposed to be the prison scene from the movie

Here's the link: http://www.cinemablend.com/dvdnews/Watc ... 14755.html

Wonder if they will give the content to the people who have been buying it off iTunes, if not *kills*

What's funny about this is they are keeping the maskless Rorschach figure under wraps until after the movie debuts. Yet, we'll see him in the prison scene. I doubt he's sitting in his cell in full costume. Unless they are just going to give us Nite Owl's and Silk Spectre II's fisticuffs and not show Rorschach's part of the break.

Well, that settles it. I'm gonna sellout. Despite my dislike of and stern viewpoint towards these "motion comics" I'm definitely buying this.

It would have been more logical to include the opening / Blake's murder, and I would have preferred it, but I'll gladly take any scene. Not to mention it'll show us how the film will look when it does hit Blu-ray.

I have finally started watching these things. Some of the animation is interesting and quite good, but overall the layout (camera direction) is very misguided and completely uninformed by film/camera language... things that would have really helped the shots stick together. There are waaaaay too many instances where all the elements are completely dislocated from eachother and 'flying apart' instead of having a unifying movement related to the 'camera'. It's not as if this is a new field. Motion graphics and anime-style (read:simple 2D) animations have perfected this stuff over the last 50 odd years, these guys don't seem to have read the book.

This is why I don't buy anything off iTunes.

Anyway, this DVD sounds like a glorified promotion for other WB products (Watchmen and Wonder Woman?). I'd like to know how much this is going to cost.

According to that, it'll cost $35.99, which sounds about right.

Hm... the motion comics are pretty good... but I really just want to see the prison scene... in blu-ray hi-def, no less.

Hurm...

($1.99 per episode * 12 episodes) + $7.50 discount for a Watchmen movie ticket = $31.38

$19.99 for a Season Pass + $7.50 discount = $27.49

No, $35.99 is still a touch too high.

Everything costs too much on Blu-ray. I saw The Usual Suspects for $40, with absolutely no special features! I don't know where they got off.

Yeah, after spending about $50 to get this thing on iTunes AND on PS3.... um... I'll buy it on Bluray. :?

Actually, I dunno. As far as the Motion Comic, it would have been a home run for me with some female voice talent. I'm quite fond of the animation style otherwise. I'd definitely skip it if PS3 hadn't botched Chapter 4's aspect ratio (all the other chapters look really good in HD). Having the prison scene is tempting, but a few months later, it'll be on the movie BD release.

Out of the many Blu-ray's I've purchased I've never spent more than $17. Amazon is a godsend.

Even though I have a PS3, I think I'm just gonna get this on standard DVD. I haven't seen any of them, so I'm definately excited for it. The main reason I won't get the Blu-Ray (other than the price) is so I won't be tempted to watch the prison scene. I can deal with copious amounts of trailers, but I don't want a whole scene spoiled for me. I know it would just be a 3 day wait, but I would probably end up giving in and watching it.

Moral of the story:

Download motion comics for free (yes, illegally) while they are released individually and then buy the official DVD when it comes out.

Blu-ray version will have a “sneak peek” at a scene from the upcoming movie plus other extras.

I second that notion.

Very exciting!

But I personally hope we hear details and see covert art, etc. for the "Tales From The Black Freighter/Under The Hood" DVD. I wonder what the hold-up is there? I believe it's coming out at the same time as the Motion Comics DVD & the soundtracks.
