Saw it for the first time just this week. Absolutely stunning.
I took to the studio and handed it to my director/mum and said "If we're going to do a Japanese-themed recital next year, you HAVE to watch this."

Kamajii, the boiler room man

(Fun fact: In the English version he's voiced by the guy who did Cogsworth)

Loved Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle too. if you like Miyazaki, check out Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, it's a manga he wrote and drew before making the movie version (which is quite different from the comic version anyway.)

I love Miyazaki's movies! Porco Rosso and My Neighbour Totoro are my favorite.

It's been a long time since I saw it, but I loved it upon first viewing a few years ago.

Just saw Princess Mononoke today as well

Another beautiful film - and an interesting story, too

The main character Ashitaka is voiced by our very own Billy Crudup :D :D :D :D

my neighbour totoro was weird... it was on tv a little while back and i watched bits of it, i think i missed the beginning and end, so that's probably why it was so weird. but i saw the cat bus bit and the bit where the kids and totoro make the plants grow... perhaps i just feel there isn't as much plot as spirited away, but then again that could be explained by me missing bits. i got the jist of their mum being ill etc.
i can see why kids would enjoy it, but it just didn't feel full enough for me

also.... shouldn't this thread me in the movies and tv section?

^ It should - I just made it before I noticed that section

I wouldn't mind it if the thread were moved to its proper place

I remember my grandparents sent me the dvd when it came out in Japan [I was in highschool or something]. Growing up on Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and other of his earlier, tame works [minus Graveyard of the Fireflies], this was a very pleasant surprise. Brought back some childhood memories.

Saw Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, recently. I loved it but it's a lot more childish than Spirited Away. The animation is Miyazaki's best work though.
