I really want to have an editorial section on the Web site, but I'm not going to write any if I'm the only one. Many of you on the forum are capable of writing some good editorials. They could be about virtually anything as long as they are connected to the Watchmen graphic novel, novie or its creators in some way.

There's no need to commit either, so if you have an idea for one article, just write the one. Ideally, I'd like to get 3 or 4 individuals whose opinions vary and have each write one article a month. The articles don't need to be that long either, about 300-500 words.

If you're interested, just send me an email at hurm@watchmencomicmovie.com.

Thanks!

I'm still finishing up my Watchmen fan-script. Like I said before, I'll gladly share it with the community. It doesn't really count as an editorial, but maybe if I have some free time after that I might write something up--maybe some sort of character specific analysis.

He's spearheading a "Save Veidt" petition on the IMDB forum. :P

I am really keen on putting something down "on paper". Trying to figure out an angle.

Watchmen was very important to me and rekindled something that I thought I had nearly lost. I was very interested in graphic representation, still am. It's my job, so stuff like this is very close to my heart. (I'm in the publishing trade as a graphic designer/illustrator working with non-fiction material).

Watchmen came in the nick of time and seemed to re-vitalize a sagging medium. Adults re-discovered the comic-medium that they had grown up with and through new, fresh eyes and minds saw that there was so much there to experience.

Anyway, as I say, it's a question of angling the thing and putting into perspective from a personal point of view.

I'm not looking for just book reports here. Find any aspect of the graphic novel, upcoming film, its creators, its characters etc. and give an opinion, analysis or report. Here's a few ideas to get people thinking in the right direction...

1. Veidt Must Live - Talk about the upcoming film and previous scripts and formulate a good argument why Vedit should not be killed by Dreiberg.

2. Superman vs. Dr. Manhattan - Who would win in this match up? This could be a fun and light artilce discussung which of these super heroes would win in a fight. Lots of humor potential in this one.

3. Alan Moore's rift with DC - Why it happened, who you think is wrong, why it should be closed, or why not, how it could be resolved. What it would mean to fans if it was resolved.

These are just a few off the top of my head, but you see where I'm going.

Great! Please email me and we can talk about it. I'm surprised a lot more folks haven't jumped on this. Many of you are really passionate about Watchmen and have lots to say. I would think some of you would want to be heard outside of the forum. I'm going to write articles myslef, but its going to get boring and one-sided if I'm the only one on the site giving an opinion.

Doomsy, your idea for an editorial page seems mildly redundant for a message board, don't you think? For what is a message board but a series of personalized editorials, one-liners, and occasional fluff?

You might consider requesting permission to cut-and-paste some of the better, more insightful, existing posts into something resembling the form of an editorial.

Just an idea.

I don't really agree. Lots of sites have message boards - CHUD for example. But the staff at CHUD still writes editorial articles that they post on the main site. Remember the Micheal Regina viral marketing Rorschach's Journal article?

I think a section like that gives Watchmen fans a more direct voice on the site and an avenue for people, like Vyn for instance, to write a cohesive article explaining why Veidt needs to live.

It different than the casula back-and-forth on the forum. Plus, some of the folks that frequent the main site may not really poke around the forum enough to get all of the info and opinions we have posted here.

I'm up for it, but it's going to be a week or so before I'll have time.

Thanks, Vyn. I'm sorry if me using your position on Veidt as an example seemed like I was trying to muscle you into doing something. It was just a perfect example.

A few weeks is fine. The fact the folks want to help is great. As long as I get 3-4 people to loosely commit to write something once a month, there will be enough material to warrant a section.

I didn't necessarily forget about this topic. I'm nearly finished with my article and the topic is, somewhat, controversial, so I'll run that by you before I submit anything. :)
