I'm not sure if this has been discussed or suggested already, but an upgrade to vBulletin would make this forum much easier to manage and it would give it a more professional look. If you guys cannot afford it then that's understandable, but if you have the money to spare you should look into it.

Also, a diverse selection of forum skins would be nice, if possible.

Some people just prefer vbulletin. I for one love PHPBB3.
