I might pick it up when it's collected in a whole trade, I'm wondering how there gonna kill everyone off. The only ultimate series I've read is Ult. Spiderman and it's really good, Its' a shame they gonna cancel it because of the other series suck.

And to answer your question do your read any ultimate lines on a regular basis? If not you might not get the whole story since it's supposed to be the finale to the ultimate line.

Yeah you probably shouldn't read it if you don't have knowledge about the Ultimate Series. The ultimate series has 4 running series.

Ultimate Spiderman (21 trades, each running around $10)
Ultimate X-men
Ultimate Fantastic Four
The Ultimates (about 5 trades)

The whole Ultimatum thing your reading is closing the whole ultimate universe putting these series to a end. Mainly because the writers of Ultimates and X-men are horrible. However Ultimate Spiderman has always stayed a good book and i recommend it. If I was you i would get trades instead of single issues. Start with the first trade.
