This was a good episode, but surprisingly straightforward. It pretty much went from point a to point b, and did mostly what it said it would do, with very few surprises, aside from being surprising in not being surprising!

Also surprising that these events happened this soon.

Lost has been a little disappointing for me so far. None of the episodes have wowed me like past seasons have. Part of the problem is the show is now playing catch up, trying to cram as much stuff into an episode that they can. "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" felt much like "Meet Kevin Johnson" in that is probably should have spanned two episode just so they could properly take time with the story. Everything felt a bit rushed tonight.

I wish we could have seen more of a reaction from Jack and Kate that Locke was back in their lives after three years. Jack's scene in particular was horribly rushed. Kate didn't seem overly affected by Locke being there (in a wheelchair). Sayid was probably the best encounter. But going back to Jack for a second, didn't Jack tell Ben that Locke told him some very bad things happened? So why didn't we see that?

Walt was the biggest let down of the episode, although seeing as how poorly handled Michael's storyline was, this isn't too surprising. I get the impression the writers really don't know what to do with him, which is a total waste seeing as how they really built up the mystery about him for several seasons. It's like they just decided not to pursue it. Also, how or why did the meeting with Locke compel Walt to see Hurley? Especially when he wasn't too moved to see Locke after all these years? How did he know he was going by Bentham if Locke didn't say he was going by that name?

Overall, it was a good episode, but not a great one.

I have a feeling something else happened between Jack and Locke that we haven't seen. Jack only had a mini-beard when he saw Locke in the hospital, but just days later he has a full beard after Locke killed himself. There was a span of several days in between where something happened, and I'm betting it's future flashback fodder.

Abbadon getting shot was awesome. Never liked his character, that guy has a creepy face. Nice episode, relaxing after the last 3 WTF episodes.

Now that was an episode!

For the past few episodes I've felt that the show was doing a Heroes impression, trying to cram too much stuff into an episode. Previous episodes were poorly written, often poorly acted, and with less than satisfying plot resolutions. So, I was glad we got a slower paced episode, that actually had some emotional resonance to it. It probably wont go down as a favorite amongst the fans, but I honestly thought it was better and more mature than all of the previous episodes.

Too bad I missed the chance to see it 2 hours earlier. :| We had one of those rare, "Canadians get it before the U.S" deals, but I was halfway through the episode before I realized that.

I thought that was a nice episode. Richard is my favorite character and it was awesome to see him kick some verbal ass with the DHARMA folk. It'll be interesting if Sawyer's conversations with Richard will affect anything we know about in the past.

Wow, now I'm completely lost. I don't know what the fuck is going on anymore, and where the story is going. It was a very nice episode, but it left me completely confused.

Why? It can't be that hard to follow, can it?

OK, here we go. At the start of the episode Sawyer and co flashed to an early point of time before settling in sometime in the 70's. Rather than try to explain how they came to be there, Sawyer came up with an alias and a story of himself and co being members of a salvage crew in search of The Black Pearl (that ancient ship that was found back in season 1). Horace gave them 2 weeks to stay on the island, but it would seem the gang decided to stay for good.

Meanwhile, we see that the truce between the Others and the Dharma Initiative is on shaky ground. When Sawyer and co first come across Amy, who works for the Dharma Initiative, she is held captive by the Others and her husband is killed. Juliet and Sawyer then kill the two Others and she takes them back to camp. However, in killing the Others, the truce is broken. In order to make amends, Sawyer works out a deal with Richard. Richard takes Amy's husbands body, and leaves the rest of them alone.

We then see what Sawyer and co have been up to three years later. In that time, they have become full fledged members of the Dharma Initiative. Sawyer and Juliet have fallen in love. Jin has learned to speak English more fluently. Horace and Amy ended up having a child. At the same time, Sawyer and Jin search the island for their friends, whom Jin later finds at the end of "316".

Jack and Co have time traveled back to the same time period. And judging by the promo for the next episode, Sawyer must come up with an excuse for how and why Jack and the gang have suddenly popped up on the island.

Richard: "My people need some kind of justice. What are we gonna do about that?"

Sawyer: "RETRIBUTION."

*Richard throws Horace out the window*

I've said it before, I think, but I am loving this season. This is a great way to get us to learn about the mysterious Dharma Initiative, without forced flashbacks, hints and tidbits. We're actually deep into the group. Great stuff.

I agree 100%.

Btw, am I the only one who thought that the girl dancing at the beginning was pretty hot? I would like to "Dharma initiative" with her, if you know what I mean...

No, she was definitely hot.

Alright, so I'm not the only one who heard Smokey chittering in the bushes as Sun and Frank walked down the dock, right? Just more evidence Christian is a monster manifestation.

What did you think of the episode? I thought it was alright. Kind of weak ending though.

It was a decent episode, obviously just setting up the threads for the second half of the season. The ending of "obvious younger version of character meets future acquaintance" has finally run its course, though, by making the fatal mistake of assuming no one in the audience remembers what the young Ben looked like or something.

This season had a couple of that stuff, you know, with Hawking explaining everything like we were in her class, or every single chapter reminding us that "WE HAVE TO GO BAAAAAACK KATE!" or "WE ARE MOVING TROUGH TIME!" and that.

Leaving that aside, I really liked this episode. I prefer this Sawyer rather than the asshole we had last season.

Understatement of the year. I actually missed part of Jack and Sawyer's conversation at the end because I was focusing on staring at Juliet's buried Jugheads, if you know what I mean. But seriously, Sawyer's what, her third island boyfriend? Girl gets around more than the frozen donkey wheel!

To be fair her first one was killed. Plus it can't be easy dating on that island. If a relationship doesn't work out your kind of stuck for other options.
