To support this point, even if the film itself wasn't great, Michael Clarke Duncan was well cast as the Kingpin in Daredevil.

Didn't even think of that, but well played.

i have been looking through wikipedia for ideas, and i stumbled across rupert thorne, seemingly the 3rd major mob boss after falcone and maroni, perhaps he would be perfect for batman 3, wikipedia also states
Quote:
Rupert Thorne is notable as one of Batman's only surviving mobster villains and has appeared in other mediums. This may be due to Thorne's willingness to work with Batman's Arkham villains, something that mobsters Falcone and Maroni have refused to do which cost them their lives.

also in batman the animated series it notes
Quote:
Thorne is also notable in the series for introducing Bane into the DC Animated Universe. In the episode "Bane," Thorne hires him to assassinate the Dark Knight.

So The Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, The Joker, Twoface......and Rupert Thorne? I think the villain needs to be one of the bigger ones.

i wasn't suggesting thorne as the MAIN villian, just as the continuation of the falcone/maroni arc. and accomodate that place in the movie's villain roster, and have another "big" villian (bane as i pointed out was linked in with him in the animated series) to occupy the joker/scarecrow etc position.

Black Mask takes over the mob and hires Bane to kill Batman.

Yeah! I'd love to see Nolan's take on the raccoon-strike that disfigures him as a boy...

Racoon strike? Seriously?

And... if they make Bane just some mercenary guy, I will be really pissed off. That is not Bane at all. Though, honestly, I'd rather see another villain. Firefly would be cool as a minor character (similar to Zsasz in Batman Begins) but I don't really know who I'd like to see as the main bad guy. Talia would be cool, but might not be suitable as an only villain (I'd rather that she either forgives/ teams up with him eventually after trying to kill him, or emerges to be the mastermind behind a different bad guy at the end).

I think they meant the guy that stood in as Ra's Al Ghul when Bruce was in China (played by Ken Watanabe).

Ah, okay

I don't think they should repeat that, it was an okay gimmick in BB, but that shouldn't be redone

No, Victor Zsasz was standing trial just as Wayne returned. This was the serial killer that Crane said would be better placed at Arkham than in prison, over the objections of Rachel "Katie Holmes" Dawes.

He was always just a bit villain in the comics and he was barely a cameo in the movie.

Yeah, I don't think he counts as a villain for the Batman movies, I mean seriously

Oh yeah! He was in for about two scenes.. no point really in doing that again, but depending on who they do it for, it could be cool to see (like for example: the snow globe in Laurie's flashback. sure, we didn't see her pick it up, but Zack went ahead and put it in there).

Benicio Del Toro as Bane.
Rhona Mitra as Catwoman.
Lance Reddick as Black Mask.
Bob Hoskins as The Penguin. History with Alfred.

I win.

No way. He's not muscular enough and he's way too old.

Your other ideas are pretty good, though.

He's not particularly old, is he? True, physically he doesn't fit the character at all, and would be a dreadful choice, but, hey, I'd cast the guy in everything. He's a genius.

Funnily enough he's the same age as the actor I chose for Bane.

The other choices are interesting though. But I wonder if they would be inclined to cast bigger movie stars for another Batman movie. I mean the Dark Knight is a pretty star heavy cast. Had it been a couple of years ago I would have said Angelina Jolie would have been perfect as Catwoman, but now I think she might be getting up their in years.

He's only 42, and he showed in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas that he is capable of changing his physique to fit the role. He's 6'2" so I'm sure he could pack on some muscle. He doesn't have to be the exaggerated steroid monster from the comics, as long as he captures the essence of the character - like Ledger's Joker. He's a fantastic actor with a great range, plus he's Latino. I'd rather have a great actor who doesn't look exactly like the comic character, rather than some musclehead who looks like Bane but can't act for shit.

here's an idea, just "Darth Vader" Bane

Bane has a mask that covers his face, so all they need to do is throw a big lunk in the costume, but then have the lines read by some actor who can do the voice. Just like Darth Vader, kind of

Problem: Muscles pretty much are the essence of Bane's character.

I hear you, but the trick with Bane is that physique and acting talent are both equally important. It's exceptionally rare to find a musclehead with decent acting talent, but that's exactly what Nolan will have to do if he's going to go with this character.

Del Toro is a phenomenal actor, don't get me wrong. But acting talent will only get an actor so far with this role and physically, he's just not going to cut it.

I have a few suggestions for the possible villian(s) for Batman 3:

The Mad Hatter:

Although he's a rather pathetic villian in the comics, he could be played out as a schiztopheric child molester/murderer on screen.

My choice of actors: JEH or Steve Buscemi (I'm NOT putting in JEH's name because I love him. He can be a creepy prevert, Little Children proves that.)

Alberto Falcone (Holiday):

I am a huge fan of The Long Halloween and I would love to see Holiday get to the big screen. And seeing as we already have Two-Face from TDK...

My picks: Paul Dano (Eli Sunday in There Will Be Blood) or Bill Moesely.
